South Island Birds

The Giant Birds of New Zealand's south Island. Ironically they are both products of insular gigantisism.

Both birds are relatively recent extinctions circa 500ya
I tried to keep the colors on the Haast's Eagle similar to those described by the Maori. (a red head/neck, white belly, and dark shoulders.
Other members of the Hieraatus genus do have color schemes closer to the description given by the Maori.
