Description
-7/14/16-The Stegosaurs of North America *now with revamped silhouettes
before I write the description any further I would like to take this moment to look at hesperosaurus and say D'aaaawwwwwwwwww
--
stenops: has fairly round plates, very 'vanilla' stego also the smallest stegosaurus species
ungulatus: small triangular plates, proportionally taller at the hips, largest stegosaur, last 4 pairs of plates are mirrored, see 's post on dinogoss (and buy his books, they are good. very good) dinogoss.blogspot.com/2015/02/…
sulcatus: largest plates in proportion to body size, furrowed. (I think that means the spikes packed allot of keratin due to the furrowed texture)
larger than stenops, shoulder spike, potentially a unique genus
alcovasaurus: giant thagomizer, 25% shorter tail, almost the size of stenops (thanks to Incinerox for that info)
hesperosaurus: the cutest widdle dwarph stego that has ever lived. also has sexual dimorphism in plates. (males have rounded plates, females have thinner plates
Disclaimer: I do not take credit for the skeletal references used as bases for the silhouettes I make.

S.Sculatus?
never heard of it, and it has a shoulder spike, how do we know it's stegosaurus and not another stegosaur?
